Overview
“Idital in Motion” is an interactive media wall that offers a unique perspective on the spiritual beliefs intertwined with the “Idital,” a ritual painting of the Lanjia Saora community in Odisha. This interactive media installation is situated within a recreated Lanjia Saora dwelling as part of the outdoor exhibition of Tribal Huts at the Odisha State Tribal Museum.
The interactive presentation vividly brings to life the people and animals depicted in the Idital, explaining how activities such as hunting, ritual preparations, sacrifices, communal feasts, daily routines, and agricultural events take place alongside the creation and consecration of the Idital. The interactive thus provides visitors with a simple narrative that conveys the cultural significance of the Idital and explains how this art form has evolved into the commercial Saora art that it is today.
